HKISPA Membership Rules

About HKISPA

 

 

The Hong Kong Internet Service Providers Association (HKISPA) was formed in November 1996 with the following objectives:

1. Discussion Forum

To serve as a forum for consideration of issues or topics that may affect the development and deployment of Internet in Hong Kong.

2. Development of Internet Industry

To promote development of Internet infrastructure, fair market competition, and the growth of the Internet industry in Hong Kong.

3. Industry Interest

To formulate and promulgate policies in respect of regulatory and governmental issues involving the Internet industry and to represent the Internet industry in its interface with governmental bodies and the public at large.

4. Code of Practice

To establish and maintain Codes of Practices for ISP members.

Membership Types of HKISPA

Membership of the Hong Kong Internet Service Providers Association is open to corporations and individuals who strive to advance the Internet industry in Hong Kong and promote the adoption of new Internet technologies. There are three types of memberships: Full Members, Associate Members – Corporate, Associate Members – Individuals

Membership Requirement

Companies holding a valid license issued by the Office of the Communications Authority to operate public Internet related services in Hong Kong

Companies having, or expressing interest in having, trade or other legitimate connections with the Internet industry

Individuals having, or expressing interest in having, trade or other legitimate connections with the Internet industry

Statutory Rights

(i) Vote in General Meetings of the HKISPA

(ii) Register as a voter of the Information Technology Functional Constituency

(iii) Nominate representatives to stand for elections to the council offices at General Meetings of the HKISPA

(i) Vote in General Meetings of the HKISPA

(ii) Register as a voter of the Information Technology Functional Constituency
